One of the four boomboxes used in the „Multiphonic Merry-Go-Round“

The „Multiphonic Merry-Go-Round“ was a performance of Lofi Deluxe utilizing four mobile soundsystems set up on different positions in a room, simoultaneously playing CDs with prepared recordings.

The installation was made up of four compositions, each consisting of four recordings on every CD.

There also was an online-version of „Asleep At The Swamp“ – utilizing four embedded flash-players, letting the visitors of the website control the playback and volume of the four singular tracks.

The installation of „Multiphonic Merry-Go-Round“ was showcased during a vernissage at the Alte Bäckerei in Greifswald on October 14th, 2009.

„Bereits zum Auftakt der Veranstaltung wurde man wieder dem eigenen Anspruch, Musik und Kunst in Greifswald zusammenzubringen, gerecht. Christin Schalko zeigte mit ihrer Ausstellung „i am not a sad and lonely boy“, wie man mit Lack, „Siff [sic]“, Bitumen, Stift, Post-Its, Lochfraß und Fleißarbeit seine eigenen Abgründe ausloten kann. Parallel dazu weihte Musiker Lofi Deluxe sein „multiphonisches Klangkarussel“ ein. – Vier Radiorekorder spielten „irrlichternde Tracks“ und luden Besucher dazu ein, die Stücke an den Lautstärkereglern vor Ort selbst aufeinander abzustimmen.“
